Grandma's Marathon 2023: Heat Takes Biggest Toll on Runners.
Heat and humidity, not air quality, posed the biggest challenge for runners at the 47th Grandma's Marathon and the 33rd Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon. The medical tent treated around 200 race participants, with heat-related illness being the most common issue. A world record was set for the fastest marathon pushing a wheelchair, and the nonbinary division winners were awarded prize money for the first time. Joel Reichow was the lone Minnesotan to claim victory in the men's Bjorklund title.
