Russian Drones Pose Threat to Ukraine's Danube Ports
Russian-operated drones carried out overnight attacks on Ukrainian ports on the Danube River, damaging grain silos in Reni port. Despite the attacks, a civilian cargo vessel successfully left the port of Odesa, becoming the first to use a new Black Sea lane. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy hailed this as an important step toward restoring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, despite warnings from Moscow that its navy could target vessels. The international community, including the US and NATO, condemned Russia's attacks on Ukrainian ports and its withdrawal from the Black Sea grain deal. Lithuania and Romania also took actions in response to the escalating conflict.
