Norwegian Metal Detectorist Unearths "Gold Find of the Century"
A Norwegian man, Erlend Bore, made the "gold find of the century" when his metal detector led him to discover nine pendants, three rings, and 10 gold pearls on the southern island of Rennesoey. Bore, who had bought the metal detector as a hobby, initially thought he had found chocolate coins but was amazed to uncover the valuable treasure. The find, dating back to around A.D. 500, is considered extremely rare and will be preserved and displayed at the Archaeological Museum in Stavanger. Both Bore and the landowner will receive a reward under Norwegian law.
