In a drag race between the GMC Hummer EV and the Ford F-150 Raptor R, the electric Hummer's advantage in power and weight gives it a clear edge over the combustion-powered Raptor. Despite giving the Raptor a head start of three truck lengths, the Hummer still narrowly loses to the Raptor. This race highlights the impressive performance capabilities of electric vehicles and their potential to outperform traditional combustion-powered vehicles.
In a drag race between the Ford Raptor R and the GMC Hummer EV, the Hummer proved to be significantly faster, even with the Raptor R given a head start. The Hummer's all-electric powertrain, with up to 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, allowed it to easily outpace the Raptor R. The race highlighted the need for Ford to develop an electric version of the Raptor to compete with the mighty Hummer EV.

The Ford F-150 Lightning is in high demand, with customers willing to pay above sticker price for the all-electric pickup truck. The success of the Lightning has prompted other automakers, such as Rivian, GMC, and Ram, to enter the electric truck market. Electric trucks are removing barriers to entry for EVs and are posting performance numbers not found in standard gas-powered pickups. The rapidly expanding list of electric trucks could help President Joe Biden meet his latest climate goals that call for two-thirds of new cars and trucks sold in the U.S. to be all-electric by 2032.
General Motors' Q1 sales increased 17.6% YoY, but the electric GMC Hummer EV pickup only contributed two deliveries due to production delays caused by a recall. With 90,000 reservations for the Hummer EV, the issue is supply, not demand. GM also delivered 968 Cadillac Lyriq electric SUVs and a record 19,700 Chevrolet Bolt EVs and Bolt EUV subcompact SUVs. GM plans to increase Bolt production to 70,000 for all of 2023.
