Giant hogweed, an invasive plant found in the US and UK, can cause severe burns, blisters, and scarring if its sap comes into contact with human skin. The plant can grow up to 14 feet tall and has white flowers in umbrella-shaped clusters. The toxins in the sap become more problematic the longer it's on the skin and in the sun, and can even cause temporary or permanent blindness if it gets into the eyes. The plant is also toxic to pets and can cause a skin reaction called phytophotodermatitis.
