Rangers part ways with Gallant after playoff exit.
The New York Rangers will not pursue Joel Quenneville as a candidate for their head coaching position, as he is under unofficial suspension by the NHL for his handling of the Kyle Beach sexual assault issue. The team and former coach Gerard Gallant mutually agreed to part ways after two successful regular seasons but a disappointing playoff exit. The Rangers are now searching for a coach who can combine motivational abilities with technical prowess and provide structure to a talented but inconsistent roster.
