First Measles Case in Georgia Since 2020 Confirmed in Metro Atlanta
The Georgia Department of Public Health has confirmed the state's first measles case in nearly four years, with an unvaccinated individual being exposed to the virus while traveling abroad. The department is working to identify potential contacts and advises anyone experiencing symptoms to contact their doctor immediately. Measles, declared eliminated in the U.S. in 2000, can still be brought into the country by international travelers and spread among the unvaccinated.
