Gent-Wevelgem 2023: Laporte and Van Aert's Dominance and Controversial Gift

Belgian cycling legends Eddy Merckx, Johan Museeuw, and Tom Boonen have criticized Wout van Aert's decision to gift his teammate Christophe Laporte victory at the Gent-Wevelgem race. Gent-Wevelgem 2023: Confusion, Dominance, and Predictions.

Jumbo-Visma's Christophe Laporte and Wout van Aert finished first and second respectively at the Gent-Wevelgem cycling race after a 50km attack on the Kemmelberg. The duo's advantage only increased as the chase behind them failed to catch up, with Laporte taking the win and his first major Classic title. Sep Vanmarcke finished third, while the remains of the chase trailed home at 2:04.
