Climate Activists Protest Fossil Fuels in Rome and Blacken Trevi Fountain
Environmental activists staged protests across Europe against governments, oil companies, and the air travel industry. In Rome, topless activists from the 'Last Generation' group covered themselves in mud in front of the Italian Senate to protest fossil fuels and climate change. In London, protesters disrupted Shell's annual shareholder meeting, accusing the company of making record profits at the cost of the environment. Dozens of climate activists also briefly disrupted air traffic at Geneva airport by breaking onto a runway and blocking a nearby business jet convention.
