Johnny Gaudreau’s parents initially hesitated to attend USA Hockey’s invitation to watch the U.S. Olympics hockey semifinals and final in Milan, fearing an emotional toll while their late sons Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau are remembered; they ultimately traveled with family after daughter Katie urged them to go to honor the brothers. The U.S. won gold with a 2-1 overtime victory over Canada, and the team honored the Gaudreaus by carrying a jersey with Johnny’s name and inviting Noa and Johnny Jr. onto the ice for the photo after the win. The brothers were killed in 2024 by a drunk driver, and the case remains in court.
