"Maryland's FY2025 Budget Prioritizes Transportation Funding and Social Services"
Maryland Governor Wes Moore has proposed a $63.1 billion FY2025 budget focusing on four priorities: making the state more service-oriented, competitive, affordable, and safer. The budget includes a record $127 million for local police agencies, $10 million for a Center for Firearm Violence Prevention and Intervention, $115 million for housing initiatives and child care, and $100 million for the new FBI headquarters in Greenbelt. Additionally, $2.3 billion is allocated to higher education, $25 million for campus security, and $150 million in previously proposed transportation cuts are being restored. The budget aims to reduce the structural deficit to $502 million and includes a $2.3 billion Rainy Day Fund, with no tax increases proposed.
