China's Revolutionary Overwater High-Speed Train Network

China has unveiled its first overwater high-speed train line, connecting the cities of Zhangzhou, Xiamen, and Fuzhou in Fujian province. The 277-kilometer (172-mile) route features a maximum speed of 350 kilometers (217 miles) per hour and includes 20 km (12 miles) of track that goes over the sea. Devastating Flooding and Chaos as Typhoon Haikui Strikes China

Intense rain from the remnants of Typhoon Haikui has caused floods and waterlogging in southeastern China, leading to the suspension of subway services, school closures, and the evacuation of tens of thousands of people in Fujian province. The heavy rain shattered 12-year-old records in Fuzhou, with 49 reservoirs exceeding flood limits. The floods have caused damage to infrastructure, power outages, and significant losses in farmland. The rain is expected to continue until Friday in central and southern parts of the province.
