China's Revolutionary Overwater High-Speed Train Network
China has unveiled its first overwater high-speed train line, connecting the cities of Zhangzhou, Xiamen, and Fuzhou in Fujian province. The 277-kilometer (172-mile) route features a maximum speed of 350 kilometers (217 miles) per hour and includes 20 km (12 miles) of track that goes over the sea. The line is part of China's larger rail initiative and aims to improve transportation in the mountainous region. Additionally, the proximity of Fujian province to Taiwan has sparked discussions about better connectivity and integration between the two areas.
