Ramonie Smith, a young woman from Gwinnett County, Georgia, has passed away after a long battle with kidney disease and heart disease, including a stroke. Smith, who lived with a rare kidney disease called FSGS, had received a kidney transplant at the age of 5 but needed another transplant as the illness returned. Despite efforts to find a match through billboards and a GoFundMe campaign, only one percent of the population would have been a suitable donor. Smith's family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses.
