Britney Spears has reportedly fled to a private island in French Polynesia to rest and escape criticism after being criticized for dancing with knives at her home. The 41-year-old singer is staying at the Brando hotel on a private island, where she won't be bothered by onlookers. This comes at a difficult time for her family, as her father Jamie has been hospitalized and her sister Jamie Lynn was recently cut from Dancing With The Stars. Britney is estranged from both of them due to an ongoing family feud.
Beyoncé celebrated her birthday by renting out a string of 11 villas on a private island in French Polynesia called Mermaid Bay. She and her family stayed at the luxurious resort, The Brando, from September 5th to the 8th. Beyoncé and Jay-Z stayed in the main residence, while the rest of their group stayed in the other villas. After the celebration, Beyoncé resumed her "Renaissance" tour in Vancouver.
Female great hammerhead sharks have been gathering in French Polynesia every summer for over a decade, with numbers peaking around the full moon. Researchers recorded 54 female sharks and one of undetermined sex in the summers of 2020 and 2021. The sharks gather around openings in two neighboring atolls, Rangiroa and Tikehau, indicating the area is an aggregation site. The sharks are likely drawn to the area by external factors linked to the lunar cycle and the presence of ocellated eagle rays. The number of sharks peaked shortly before and after a full moon, possibly due to increased moonlight enhancing their hunting abilities. The researchers are investigating whether the atolls serve as nursery grounds for great hammerhead sharks.
