X has made its AI chatbot, Grok, available for free to all users, offering 10 free prompts every 2 hours, similar to a freemium model like ChatGPT. Previously, Grok was exclusive to X Premium subscribers. Users can also generate 10 images for free every 2 hours but are limited to analyzing 3 images per day without a subscription. This move follows xAI's recent $6 billion funding round, increasing its total funding to $12 billion.
Google Photos is making its premium editing tools, including Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and Portrait Light, available to all Android and iOS users, with some usage limits for free users. The Magic Editor, which allows users to remove and move objects in photos, will be part of a freemium strategy, offering 10 free saves a month and requiring a Google One 2TB plan, priced at $100 a year, for additional usage. These features will be rolled out starting on May 15.
