
Ex-U.S. Soldier Convicted of Manslaughter in Iraq Arrested for Attacking Police on Jan. 6
Former U.S. Army soldier Edward Richmond Jr., previously convicted of manslaughter for killing an Iraqi civilian in 2004, has been charged with assaulting police officers with a baton during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. He faces several federal charges, including civil disorder and entering a restricted area with a deadly weapon. Richmond was identified in images and footage from the Capitol breach and is scheduled to appear in court.
