Miami-Dade Police have identified the three individuals who died in an apparent murder-suicide in Southwest Miami-Dade as Luis Napoles, Meghan Moore, and Sidney Capolino. Napoles fatally shot Moore, his girlfriend, outside before entering and shooting Capolino, Moore’s roommate, then taking his own life. Moore and Capolino were former students of New England College.
Former students of the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) shooter, Anthony Polito, have come forward with unsettling experiences while studying under him at East Carolina University (ECU). One student reported that Polito made a sexual comment about her outfit in class, while another claimed he made unwanted contact through emails and texts and even bought her gifts. Polito resigned from his tenured associate professor position at ECU in 2017, but it is unclear if it was related to these incidents. The students are speaking out to encourage others to report mistreatment by people in positions of power. Polito targeted and killed three faculty members at UNLV on December 6, 2023.
