Bali plans to ban foreign tourists from renting motorbikes and crack down on those who work illegally on the island. Governor Wayan Koster said tourists will be restricted to using cars for travel around the island. The move is aimed at targeting foreigners riding motorcycles without valid paperwork and helmets, driving recklessly, using fake Indonesian ID cards or abusing residence and work permits. The island reopened to vaccinated tourists from 19 countries in October 2021.
