Donna Adelson, the mother of Charlie Adelson who was recently convicted in the murder of Dan Markel, has been indicted for first-degree murder and conspiracy and solicitation in Markel's death. Adelson was arrested as she and her husband attempted to flee the country to Vietnam. The couple had booked one-way tickets after their son's conviction. Adelson is currently being held without bond and will be transferred to the Leon County Detention Facility. Prosecutors intend to use her attempted flight against her. Markel, a law professor, was shot in 2014 following a bitter divorce and custody battle with Adelson's daughter.

A man suspected of a hit-and-run in San Francisco accidentally shot himself while fleeing from police. Witnesses reported three individuals in ski masks hitting another car with their BMW before fleeing the scene. Police located the suspects' vehicle and saw three people running away. Later, officers responded to a shooting and found an adult male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, who turned out to be one of the hit-and-run suspects. The man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Orlando police officer Alexander Shaouni has been charged with speeding, reckless driving, fleeing a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest after driving 80 mph in a 45 mph zone without emergency lights or sirens activated and fleeing a Seminole County Sheriff's deputy who attempted to pull him over. Shaouni was also relieved of duty pending investigations by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and the Orlando Police Department's Internal Affairs.
