Massive Fire Destroys Historic Spencer Church
A lightning strike caused a six-alarm fire that destroyed the First Congregational Church of Spencer, Massachusetts, a structure that dates back to the 1860s. The church has a long history in the town, with the congregation dating back to 1743. The current church was built in 1863 after fire destroyed the previous building a year earlier.
