Ayuso dominates Tour de Suisse with solo victory on stage 5.

Juan Ayuso of UAE Team Emirates won stage 5 of the Tour de Suisse, soloing to victory on the queen stage. Mattias Skjelmose of Trek-Segafredo took second place and the yellow jersey. Race leader Felix Gall of AG2R Citroën conceded four seconds in the final dash for the line and slipped to second place. Pello Bilbao of Bahrain Victorious claimed the final spot on the podium. Remco Evenepoel of Soudal-QuickStep was distanced in a split at the top of the Albulapass and conceded 26 seconds to Skjelmose.

Tour de Suisse 2023: Form and Survival Tactics on Display.

Remco Evenepoel finished second on stage 4 of the Tour de Suisse, remaining in the hunt for the overall title. Evenepoel explained that he mimicked the tactics of his former teammate João Almeida rather than try to respond to the accelerations of his rivals. The Tour de Suisse marks Evenepoel’s return to competition after a positive test for COVID-19 forced him out of the Giro d’Italia while wearing the maglia rosa. With a 25.7km time trial to come on Sunday, Evenepoel remains well placed to claim the overall title, but only if he remains within touching distance of Felix Gall and Mattias Skjelmose in the days ahead.
