Seattle Couple Buys Japanese Farmhouse for $30K After Being Priced Out of Housing Market
Leika and Brandon Hansen, priced out of Seattle's housing market, bought a $30,000 100-year-old farmhouse in Japan's countryside, citing cheaper real estate, safety, walkability, and retirement dreams as reasons for the move. They plan to move permanently to Japan this summer, aiming to pursue hobbies and interests, and get a head start on their retirement goals. The couple also noted the option of investing in real estate through REITs for those who cannot purchase foreign real estate.
