From Rundown to Remarkable: The Transformation of an American Couple's Portuguese Farmhouse
An American-Belgian couple, Alan Andrew and Vincent Proost, purchased an abandoned farmhouse in the Alentejo region of Portugal with the intention of turning it into a vacation home. However, they ended up relocating to Portugal full-time and embarked on a massive renovation project. Despite facing challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic and adjusting to the slower pace of life in the region, they successfully completed their modern farmhouse, named Casa Baio, which now operates as a bed and breakfast. The couple has embraced the farming lifestyle, tending to their olive fields and producing their own organic oil. However, due to a recent health diagnosis, they have decided to sell the property and move on, but they have no regrets about their time in Portugal.
