Italian Police Uncover Exploitation of Chinese Workers in Giorgio Armani Bag Production
Italian police revealed that exploited Chinese workers, employed by an unauthorized subcontractor, produced handbags and accessories for Giorgio Armani near Milan, with the in-house production company failing to properly monitor the supply chain. The fashion house denied wrongdoing but GA Operations has been placed under judicial administration. The workers were allegedly employed under the table, disregarding health and safety regulations, and were part of a system of caporalato. The investigation is part of a wider probe into the fashion supply chain in the Milan and Bergamo provinces, with four Chinese factory owners facing a separate criminal investigation for their role.
