
NASA 'Hidden Figure' Evelyn Boyd Granville Passes Away at 99
Evelyn Boyd Granville, a pioneering NASA "Hidden Figure" and one of the first two Black women in the US to earn a Ph.D in mathematics, has passed away at the age of 99. Despite racial adversity, Granville made significant contributions to NASA's early human spaceflight missions, including the Mercury and Apollo programs. After her time with NASA, she had a long career in education as a mathematics professor and authored textbooks. Granville died peacefully at her home in Silver Spring, Maryland on June 27.
