The Hunt for Escaped Murderer: A Two-Week Edge in Chester County
After a two-week manhunt, law enforcement officers in Chester County, Pennsylvania, captured Danilo Cavalcante, an escaped murderer convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend. Cavalcante had managed to evade capture by outrunning and outmaneuvering hundreds of trained officers in the rolling hills and dense forests of the county. The search was hindered by unseasonably warm weather, challenging terrain, and unlocked sheds and outbuildings that provided hiding places for Cavalcante. Despite the difficulties, law enforcement remained determined and eventually apprehended Cavalcante, who had survived on stolen watermelons and creek water. The 34-year-old Brazilian had planned to carjack someone and flee the area before his capture.
