Researchers have developed compounds that mimic the effects of exercise in rodent cells, potentially offering new treatments for muscle atrophy, heart failure, and neurodegenerative diseases. The compounds activate estrogen-related receptors (ERRs) and have shown promise in enhancing muscle cells' metabolism and growth, as well as improving muscle performance in animal studies.
