Nissan debuts US-first plugless e-Power series hybrid for Rogue
Nissan is bringing its plugless e-Power series-hybrid to the U.S. in a Rogue variant, using a gasoline engine as a generator to power electric motors for EV-like driving without a plug. The system, now in its third generation, features a larger turbo engine and updated packaging to appeal to American buyers, with expansion to other models possible later. While city driving historically yields strong mpg (Rogue Sport above 40 mpg cited), the e-Power is less efficient at higher speeds and Nissan has not yet released pricing or final fuel-economy figures.
