The Link Between Early-Life Diseases and Lifetime Childlessness: Insights from Finland and Sweden
A study conducted in Finland and Sweden examined the relationship between diseases and childlessness in men and women. The study found that certain diseases, particularly mental-behavioral disorders and congenital anomalies, were strongly associated with childlessness. In addition, endocrine-nutritional-metabolic disorders, inflammatory diseases, and age of disease onset also played a role in influencing the likelihood of being childless. The study highlights the complex interplay between health and reproductive outcomes and emphasizes the need for comprehensive healthcare support for individuals facing infertility or involuntary childlessness.
