An EMT with less than a year’s experience was driving the Johnson County, Missouri ambulance which crashed Sunday afternoon resulting in the death of the patient inside. The ambulance flipped over twice before coming to a stop. The EMT and her partner, a captain, paramedic, and man in his early 30’s who was in the back of the ambulance treating the patient, both suffered minor injuries. The patient, an unidentified man, was strapped into his stretcher, but that stretcher didn’t stay on the ambulance floor during the crash and he died at the scene. The EMT was driving at 61 miles-per-hour at the time of the crash, under the posted 65 mph speed limit.
