Heartbreaking Footage: Young Orcas' Desperate Attempt to Save Dying Companion
Heartbreaking footage captured off the coast of Norway shows two young orcas desperately trying to save a dying older male orca named "Hunchy." The footage, believed to be the first of its kind, shows the younger orcas attempting to keep Hunchy afloat and repeatedly circling back to try to revive him. The older orca appeared skinny and hadn't eaten for a long time. After about 50 minutes, the younger orcas gave up, and Hunchy was seen floating motionless below the surface. The incident sheds light on the behavior of orcas when an adult member of their group is dying, a phenomenon that has not been observed before.
