Senators equipped with satellite phones and trained on upgraded security devices.

More than 50 senators have been issued satellite phones for emergency communication as part of new security measures being offered by the Senate Sergeant at Arms. Senate administrative staff recommend senators keep the phones in close proximity during their travels. The Sergeant at Arms has also opened an office "demonstration space" to offer senators and staff an exhibition of new home state office security upgrades. Additionally, administrators have offered "stop the bleed" training to better equip staffers to respond to medical emergencies and victims of attacks.
