"Latrodectus Malware: Evading Sandboxes and Replacing IcedID"

A new malware called Latrodectus has been discovered, distributed through email phishing campaigns and designed to retrieve payloads and execute arbitrary commands. It is linked to threat actors behind the IcedID malware and primarily used by initial access brokers to deploy other malware. Latrodectus has been employed in email threat campaigns by TA578 and comes with sandbox evasion functionality, capabilities to detect sandboxed environments, and connections to IcedID infrastructure.

Beware of Gmail and Outlook Scams: Red Alert Issued by Google

A warning has been issued to billions of Gmail and Microsoft Outlook users as email phishing scams have risen by 240%. Cyber defence company BlueVoyant has outlined typical warning signs of scam emails, including dynamic phishing and SMS phishing. The company has noted that 67% of all phishing attacks were hosted on dynamic DNS infrastructure in 2021. SMS gateway scripts are sold on the deep and dark web as all-inclusive solutions, which are rather easy to operate, and require very little technical knowledge.
