"Former Editors and Candidates Plead Guilty in Jan. 6 Capitol Violence Cases"

Elliot Resnick, a former top editor of The Jewish Press, pleaded guilty to obstructing police officers' efforts during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. He admitted to impeding officers' attempts to hold off the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol and is scheduled to be sentenced in June. The Justice Department stated that he was not acting as a journalist that day, contradicting the paper's earlier claim that he was in Washington to cover the events.

Former Jewish Newspaper Editor Charged for Capitol Riot Involvement

Elliot Resnick, former chief editor of The Jewish Press, has been arrested on charges of obstructing law enforcement and assaulting officers in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol Riot. Resnick allegedly pushed his way into the Capitol through the east rotunda doors and remained in the building for close to an hour. He had repeatedly posted on social media questioning the 2020 election results. At least 1,000 people have been arrested in connection with the riot, including more than 320 charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.

Newspaper Editor Accused of Interfering with Police at Capitol Riot by FBI.

Elliot Resnick, former chief editor of The Jewish Press, was arrested by the FBI on charges of civil disorder and assault of or interference with law enforcement for his actions during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Resnick was seen in videos grabbing and holding the arm of a Capitol police sergeant who was trying to prevent rioters from entering the building. He was also one of the first rioters to enter the Capitol through the East Rotunda doors and spent roughly 50 minutes inside before leaving. The Jewish Press had previously defended Resnick's actions, but did not comment on his arrest.

Jewish newspaper editor charged for Capitol riot involvement.

Elliot Resnick, former editor of an Orthodox Jewish newspaper in New York City, has been charged with two felonies for his actions at the Capitol on Jan. 6. Resnick grabbed a Capitol Police officer’s arm while he was attempting to defend the doors leading to the rotunda and helped pull other rioters into the building at one of the earliest moments of the breach. He faces charges of civil disorder and impeding police officers, as well as misdemeanor counts for entering and remaining in a restricted building, as well as disorderly or disruptive conduct in a Capitol building.
