Beloved 31-year-old giraffe, Twiga, dies at Texas zoo
Twiga, a 31-year-old giraffe, has died at the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin, Texas, making her one of the oldest giraffes cared for by humans. Twiga, a Masai giraffe, had been at the zoo since 2008 and provided companionship to other giraffes. Despite showing signs of age, she received attentive care from the zoo's staff. Giraffes typically have a life expectancy of 25 to 26 years.
