Unprecedented Circulation of Quantum Vortices in Superconductors Explained
Researchers from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stanford University, TD Lee Institute, and AIST have discovered a new kind of superconducting vortex that can exist in a single electronic band and carry an arbitrary fraction of flux quantum. This finding revises the prevailing understanding of how electronic flow can occur in superconductors and has potential applications in superconducting electronics and quantum computation. The study is published in the journal Science.
