The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) held presidential and legislative elections marred by allegations of fraud, electoral violence, and logistical setbacks. Ruling party fights to regain lost ground in Nigerian governorship polls.

Nigerians are voting in delayed governorship polls amid reports of electoral violence and voter disenfranchisement. The gubernatorial race will be decided in 28 of Nigeria’s 36 states as the ruling party scrambles to regain lost ground in key states. The battle for Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub and one of Africa’s largest cities, has typically been a two-party race that has never been won by the opposition. The incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the ruling All Progressives Congress party is seeking a second term, but only two are viewed as real threats to his reelection.
