Culture Wars in School Board Elections: Voters Reject Extremism and Embrace Bipartisanship
Conservative organization Moms for Liberty, known for advocating book bans and censoring diversity classes and LGBTQ rights, faced major setbacks in state and school board elections. Candidates endorsed by the organization suffered widespread defeats, with only one victory out of 13 endorsed candidates in Iowa. Similar losses were seen in Minnesota, Washington state, New Jersey, Ohio, and Virginia. The organization, founded in 2021, has grown to over 95,000 members across 200 chapters in 37 states. This election outcome reflects a broader trend of defeats for the organization and Republicans nationwide.
