The Florida state attorney's office has decided not to pursue a misdemeanor domestic battery charge against Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Zay Jones, following an incident in which he was arrested and charged after an argument with the mother of his child. The decision comes after an assistant state attorney reviewed the evidence and declined to prosecute Jones for the charges.
Assault charges against Boston Bruins player Milan Lucic were dropped after prosecutors filed a motion to use the 911 call as evidence, but his wife declined to testify, invoking spousal privilege. The Commonwealth stated they couldn't prove the charges without the victim's participation, and the district attorney's office noted encountering similar situations in domestic charge matters. Lucic had been on indefinite leave from the team and entered the NHL players assistance program after the incident.
All felony domestic violence charges against Justin Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites, have been dropped by prosecutors due to insufficient evidence. Roiland pleaded not guilty to the charges in 2020 and his career took a hit after reports of the charges were made public. Adult Swim and Hulu both dropped him from their shows, but Rick and Morty will continue without him. Roiland stated that he is looking forward to moving on and restoring his good name.
