China Restricts Drone Exports Amid US Tech Tensions
China has announced export controls on certain drones and drone-related equipment, including engines, lasers, communication equipment, and anti-drone systems, effective from September 1. The move is aimed at safeguarding national security and interests amid escalating tension with the United States over technology access. The restrictions will also apply to some consumer drones, and no civilian drones can be exported for military purposes. China's drone manufacturing industry is significant, with exports to various markets, including the US. Chinese-based company DJI, which is popular in the US, has stated that it strictly complies with export control regulations and does not design or manufacture products for military use.
