"Fatal Shooting Claims Lives of Two Men, Including Double Amputee, in Detroit's West Side Altercation"

Two men, including a well-known double amputee, were killed in a shooting on Detroit’s west side at the intersection of 8 Mile Road and the Southfield Service Drive. The men, one in his 30s and the other in his 60s and in a wheelchair, ended up shooting and killing each other with the same firearm after a fight broke out for unknown reasons. The intersection has been shut down for investigation, and updates will be posted as they become available.

Double amputee Gurkha veteran makes history with Everest summit

Hari Budha Magar, a Gurkha veteran who lost both legs in Afghanistan, has become the first double above-the-knee amputee to reach the summit of Mount Everest. He started the climb on 17 April, exactly 13 years since he lost his legs after an IED explosion. Despite facing freezing conditions and running out of oxygen, he reached the top of the world's tallest mountain on Friday. Budha Magar helped campaign to have the ban on double amputees and blind people climbing Everest removed.

Double Amputee Gurkha Makes History Scaling Everest

Hari Budhamagar, a double amputee ex-British Gurkha soldier, has become the first person in his category to scale Mount Everest with artificial legs. He lost both his legs in the war in Afghanistan while fighting as a soldier of British Gorkha for the UK government in 2010. He had postponed his plan to scale Mt Everest in 2018 after the government introduced a mountaineering regulation that banned blind, double-amputee and solo climbers from climbing the mountains, including Everest in 2017.

Wheelchair Pushing Incidents Spark Outrage in NHL Community

A double amputee who had her wheelchair pushed down a flight of stairs by the son of an NHL executive and ex-player has spoken out about the incident, saying she plans to not accept any of the approximately $9,000 that’s been raised for her. The incident was captured on camera and shared on Twitter, where it’s been viewed 33 million times since Tuesday morning. The college hockey player responsible for the incident has been suspended from team activities, and both he and his father have issued apologies. The victim has filed a police report, but no criminal charges have been announced.
