"Simona Halep Receives Four-Year Ban for Doping Violations"
Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep has been banned for four years for two separate anti-doping rule violations, including testing positive for a banned blood-booster at the US Open last year. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) provisionally suspended Halep in October 2022 and later accused her of a second doping offense in May for irregularities in her athlete biological passport. Halep, who has won at Wimbledon and the French Open, expressed her distress on social media and has been ineligible to compete in any sanctioned events during her suspension.
