Pence Confident in Qualifying for Debate Stage and Appeals to Donors

Former Vice President Mike Pence's campaign predicts that he will meet the donor threshold next week to qualify for the first Republican presidential debate. Pence's campaign manager, Steve DeMaura, stated that they have "well over" 30,000 unique donors and are averaging "more than" 1,000 new donors per day. While Pence has already met the polling threshold, he remains short of the donor threshold, which seven other candidates claim to have already reached. Pence's campaign is confident that their online and direct mail fundraising efforts will secure his qualification for the debate.

Chris Christie Clears Donor Threshold for GOP Debate

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has announced that he has reached the required number of individual donors set by the Republican National Committee to qualify for the GOP debate stage in August. Candidates need a minimum of 40,000 individual donors, with at least 200 donors per state or territory in 20 or more states and/or territories. Other candidates, including former Vice President Mike Pence and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, have not yet confirmed if they have met the donor threshold. Christie, who has been critical of the loyalty pledge, will participate in the first Republican primary debate scheduled for August 23 in Milwaukee.

"Republican Debate Criteria Sparks Controversy and Competition Among Networks"

The Republican National Committee has announced that the first presidential primary debate will take place on August 23 in Milwaukee and set the polling and donor thresholds candidates must meet to make the stage. Candidates will need to register at least 1% in three national polls or a combination of national polls and a poll from the early-voting states recognized by the RNC. Qualifying candidates will also need a minimum of 40,000 unique donors to their principal presidential campaign committee, with at least 200 unique donors per state or territory in 20+ states and/or territories. The candidates must also sign a pledge agreeing to support the eventual party nominee.
