Honoring the Legacy of Brazilian Journalists and Indigenous Communities.

Friends and colleagues of British journalist Dom Phillips, who was killed in the Brazilian Amazon last year, are coming together to complete the book he was working on at the time of his death. Phillips had been working on a book called How to Save the Amazon: Ask the People Who Know, and his friends and colleagues are now striving to ensure that his work telling the stories of Amazon defenders does not die with him. The team of writers will carry out trips retracing Phillips’ steps to write the book’s remaining chapters, working with the partly completed manuscript and Phillips’ extensive notes and research.

Honoring the Amazon's Defenders: Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips.

Bruno Pereira, a Brazilian Indigenous expert, and Dom Phillips, a British journalist, were killed on the frontline of the battle to protect the Amazon from extractive industries. The Bruno and Dom project, a year-long collaborative investigation involving more than 50 journalists from 16 media organisations in 10 countries, has been launched to honour and pursue their work, foreground the importance of the Amazon and its people, and suggest possible ways to save the Amazon.
