A paralyzed pug named Pierogi stole the show at the 33rd Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade in New York City, dressed as a taxicab. The adorable canine, owned by Sean-James Murphy, strutted his stuff in a creative costume, showcasing the inclusive spirit of Halloween celebrations.
Pookah the Pomeranian won "Best in Show" at the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, beating out contenders dressed as Pikachu and the "This Is Fine" meme. The parade almost didn't happen due to permitting issues but was saved by becoming part of the Open Streets program. Taylor Swift and Barbie costumes were popular, and some participants added personal touches to their costumes. Judges selected winners based on audience applause, and other animals, like a skunk and a chicken, also made appearances at the parade.
A San Jose man's family asked people to dress up their dogs and parade them in front of their house to help their dad celebrate his 100th birthday. About 200 dogs and their owners came by to wish him a happy birthday, and even though most people didn't know him, they brought him flowers, cupcakes, and made him drawings and posters. The Moore family said they were touched by how the community came together to celebrate their dad's milestone.
