Pookah the Pomeranian won "Best in Show" at the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, beating out contenders dressed as Pikachu and the "This Is Fine" meme. The parade almost didn't happen due to permitting issues but was saved by becoming part of the Open Streets program. Taylor Swift and Barbie costumes were popular, and some participants added personal touches to their costumes. Judges selected winners based on audience applause, and other animals, like a skunk and a chicken, also made appearances at the parade.
