Despite its flaws in UI, Discovery Plus is the go-to streaming service for the writer, who pays $4.99 per month for access to a melting pot of unscripted reality shows from various networks. Discovery plans to improve the UI for Max, the writer is too cheap to switch to HBO Max and will stick with Discovery Plus for now.
HBO Max is rebranding as Max and will offer three subscription plans: Ad-Lite, Ad-Free, and Ultimate. The new plans will have some slight changes in how they're packaged and what's offered, but all plans will grant access to the full Max library. 4K content will cost $20 per month on the Ultimate plan. Discovery Plus will remain a standalone streaming service, and there are no announced bundles for customers who would like subscriptions to both Max and Discovery Plus.
Warner Bros. Discovery will announce its combined HBO Max and Discovery Plus offering, called "Max," during a press event on Wednesday. The service will offer multiple subscription tiers at different price points, including a $16 per month ad-free plan and a cheaper ad-supported tier. The company may launch the service in the next month or two. Warner Bros. Discovery hopes to reach 130 million subscribers across HBO, HBO Max, and Discovery Plus by 2025.
