President Biden faces bleak approval ratings and opposition to his re-election, according to a new Washington Post/ABC News poll. However, the top Republican alternatives, former President Donald J. Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, also do not have majority support. Most Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters prefer someone other than Biden in 2024, but there is no clear alternative candidate. The poll also reveals a disconnect between what Americans want and the options available to them.
