Winter storm causes widespread power outages in Northeastern US.

Over 10,000 customers in Vermont are still without power more than 48 hours after a snowstorm hit the state, with Bennington, Windham, and Windsor counties being the hardest hit. The American Red Cross has opened a regional disaster shelter at Brattleboro Union High School to assist those affected by the storm. The storm brought over 40 inches of snow and wind gusts over 40 miles per hour, causing many outages due to the extremely wet snow turning to a drier consistency.
