Tragic Loss: Giraffe Euthanized at Dickerson Park Zoo
Gidget, the 30-year-old matriarch giraffe at Dickerson Park Zoo, was euthanized due to severe arthritis and declining mobility. The decision was made to prioritize her quality of life. Gidget had been a resident of the zoo since 1993 and leaves behind two daughters and a granddaughter, as well as multiple descendants in zoos across the country.
